Pancake Tapes

Hello,


By your pictures you can play a pancake without a reel. I have heard that you should set a pancake tape on an empty reel.

Could you tell me how to play Pancake Tapes?
I am a beginner of Studer C37.40 year ago I experienced TEAC 7030GSL.

I own a c37 and love it.
As far a using pancakes on the machine, it only works with European tape, like Agfa and BASF or the modern equivalent RTM 900 or 911, and a few others. American tapes will be destroyed because they dont wind smoothly in fast forward and rewind. Reels must be used with American tape!
