In the summer of 1974 I briefly worked for the Virgin Records shop in Coventry, U.K., and was invited to go to Abbey Road Studios to hang out with Roy Harper when he recorded his 'HQ" album. Roy was working on a track with multiple layers that day. We headed down to the galley, I think it was in the basement of Abbey Road, and Roy, the manager of the Coventry shop, another guy and me to grab lunch.
We sat at a table with the members of Pink Floyd at the table behind us, who'd ordered take out Chinese food and champagne, or so someone mentioned. I don't recall anyone from the two tables talking to the others...Met Alan Clark (The Hollies) when I was in England; he picked me up while I was hitchhiking to Lyme Regis to camp. Also saw Roy in concert, John Martyn a couple of times at Warwick University. A wonderful time when I was a foreign exchange student and later an American Studies staffer.
