It was 1996 at Sunny, when i first worked on an SSL (a 40ch 4000G+)... and next year on another one at Sahara. For Sahara's refurbishment in July 2002, i chose the XL 9000 K (48ch) for Film Music Recording & Mixing; it arrived late 2002 (but installed much later).
In July-2002, i had visited SSL Oxfordshire to finalize its order and receive operational training (5.1 surround mixing). The tour through the many departments in SSL's factory was awesome, unforgettable. Ultimate dream-come-true experience for me, especially because an old memory didn't fail to cross my mind...
I recollected my early years' (circa 1991) bedside poster - centrefold of an audio magazine with image of an 4000G+ surface captioned "THE DREAM MACHINE" which had made me to wonder IF an SSL would really arrive in india during my lifetime... and if i'd ever get such an enviable opportunity!
Li'l did i know that it would be a 6-year wait ONLY.
