Swiss Engineering at its best

I have a 1973 ReVox A77, and it’s so incredibly detailed and sophisticated. The only Achilles heel of it is the life of the heads - at 900 hours, that’s quite short when one mixes to it and plays it back onto digital equipment, as I often do to warm up the audio a bit. You can get new heads now, but at £600 a pair (the erase head lasts forever, it’s just the rec and repro heads that wear quickly), you have to want to use it.

Luckily I have a fund stashed away for the new heads as it really is worth it. My machine runs at 15 IPS, so really captures everything...
